Accu-Thump® may not look hi-tech, but considerable amount of research has gone into the development of this extraordinary hand tool.
Unlike the typical wood/metal sticks and hammers, ACCU-THUMP® always hits/thumps the tire TREAD with the same amount of metal. This is due to the weighted curve (angle of incidence) of the striking end. The length of Accu-Thump® provides a convenient leveraged impact force with minimal effort. Whereas, cyclindrical stick thumpers (pipes, solid bars, etc.) do not provide leveraged weight, and require a significant increase in physical effort to swing to obtain desired results. Plus, the striking ends of sticks or hammers seldom hit the tire tread at the same impact angle.
Refer to sketches for more information.
Because the Accu-Thump® striking force required is small compared to common wood/metal sticks there is much less undesirable physical effects to the hand. When Accu-Thump® strikes/thumps a tire - usuable and comfortable vibration waves are generated that travel, for the most part, unabsorbed, unhindered and unaltered to the ear and hand.
U.S. DOT rules indicate that drivers are to periodically check tires. Furthermore, there's little doubt that enforcement of regulations and inspections will continue to esculate, especially for Hazmat haulers, who are supposed to check tire status every 100 miles. Therefore, in this age of atrocious fines, don't you want to know that your tires would most likely pass the inspectors scrutiny?
Assume that Accu-Thump®, at a minimum, finds only 1 or 2 low/flat tires, per year, per rig, at the ready line, or at dinner/rest stops. These tires are then repaired/exchanged before an expensive in-route tire failure or dangerous hwy alligator occurs. What would this mean to the BOTTOM LINE for anyone who owns or manages 1, 10, 100, 1000 or tractor trailer rigs?
There are numerous magazine/newspaper articles indicating that about 25% of all tires on the hwy are underinflated, that results in reduced fuel economy, less tire life and safety problems. In addition, it's well known that tires rank about 3rd on the expense list right behind labor and fuel. So, obviously, it's a prudent professional who monitors his tires regularly!
